For the most part this jewelry is made of 22 Karat gold, a beautiful and exacting metal to work with. It has given me the opportunity to combine my knowledge of contemporary Metalsmithing with ancient Goldsmithing techniques. I have made each piece by hand from the initial alloying of the gold, to forming sheet or pulling wire, to the fabrication and finishing procedures. Some are set with precious or semi precious stones *and antiques components.
It is a joy to be able to combine this wonderful gold with antique Italian micromosaics I have collected over the years. These are made of tiny pieces of glass set in resin and to my knowledge are no longer being made or even repaired today. It is, as they say, a marriage made in heaven.
