A move from the city to the country has altered the way I look at and interact with the natural world. I have become an obsessive observer of this world. Life on a secluded, woodland pond provides countless opportunities to witness both major and minor events. My recent tapestries are pure visual reactions to my observations of this environment as I move through it - spaces flatten, actions shift and colors alter as they are experienced moment by moment. The sense of place and my attachment to the environment are major aspects of this work. I am influenced by both the physical landscape around me and the remembered landscapes that haunt me. -Susan Iverson 2013
